ABOUT ME

I have been a freelance dance teacher and choreographer across Berkshire and Oxfordshire since I graduated from Millennium Performing Arts, London, one of the top Performing Arts Establishments in the UK, in July 2009, with a Level 6 National Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre, where I studied Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary (Graham, Cunningham and Release), Musical Theatre, Tap, Singing and Acting. In 2018, I graduated from Laine Theatre Arts alongside the University of the Creative Arts with a BA Hons degree in Musical Theatre and in 2019 I gained my QTS.

I teach dance at a secondary school, I am the Early Stages' teacher at Stagecoach Abingdon, as well as being Artistic Director of West Berkshire Youth Dance Company (Westies), a company to develop talented youth dancers in training at a professional level.  I teach Contemporary, Jazz/Musical Theatre, Tap, Ballet and Street Jazz. I teach children from age 4 to 18 as well as taking adult and private one to one dance classes. I also choreograph full scale musicals and dance performance pieces.

Being Artistic Director of West Berkshire Youth Dance Company, I am the sole teacher/choreographer for both the Junior and Senior West Berkshire Youth Dance Company for auditioned children aged 12-18 years old.  Under my leadership and mentoring, they have performed in Newbury and Bracknell, as well as having worked with Lila Dance Company to create a Curtain Raiser piece for their show at the Corn Exchange Newbury. I have also created links with Millennium Performing Arts and Read College to give dancers taster days of dance education at professional dance colleges. I have ex-company members continuing their dance training to a higher level at Laban, London Contemporary Dance School, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Millennium Performing Arts, LIPA, Bird College of Dance, IAB Barcelona, Read College and the University of Chichester.

I was previously the Contemporary Dance Tutor at Read College, Reading, where I teach on the one year Musical Theatre Foundation course and the two year Vocational 6th Form. The one year Foundation course prepares students to audition for professional dance/theatre college, with 100% of the musical theatre graduates being offered places at top UK Dance and Drama colleges.

From 2015 to 2022, I joined the team at Rare Productions as a Choreographer for their Newbury productions. RARE Productions is the UK’s largest youth musical theatre production company for children and young adults from local areas, and produce full shows on real stages. Rare launched the group in Newbury in 2015, where I stayed as choreographer till 2022.  Following the Newbury show's successes, I have choreographed productions for Rare in Reading, Basingstoke and Windsor.

In September 2011 I returned from New York, America after working for two and a half months at the prestigious Stagedoor Manor Performing Arts Training Center as an Assistant Choreographer and Dance Teacher. This well known summer camp is for 10 to 18 year olds, where I had to teach dance classes, as well as help put together three full scale Musical Theatre Shows.

I have also helped to create, as an assistant director, a triennial local dance production in Newbury called ‘Homegrown’, which focuses on providing a performance platform for community and professional dancers who have a connection with West Berkshire.

I have performed myself for many choreographers and companies including Charlie Morrissey, Pyramid Pantomimes and Opera della Luna, meaning I have experience working in the contemporary and musical theatre business, which I am able to bring to my own teaching.

I am a creative, vibrant, motivated, enthusiastic and reliable teacher who enjoys developing and nurturing my student’s confidence and dance potential to the full so they can shine in a performance or audition situation
